A great read, particularly if you grew up in the South in the 50/60s. Some sad truths along w/carefully crafted lessons learned. Thankfully, we have progressed beyond the world in the book, but subtle remnants are still around. Excellent writing and very well thought out story design. Took me some time to get around to it, but glad I did. Should be out in paper soon.

The Help
Predictions for Readerville hits are always a crapshoot, but I'm picking this one as an early 2009 favorite. It seemed very much a Readerville book to me. Another novel about mid twentieth century race relations, written in "authentic" Southern voices by a white woman, has to be pretty good to keep my interest past the first page. Imagine my surprise when I read this one in two sittings. I hope it does well, because I think it deserves to.
