Just finished, and don't know whether to laugh or cry at how dire yet absurd the situation really is. And I concur with Jacoby's lack of sunny optimism at the end.

So far, a very interesting analysis of the rise of anti-intellectualism. Good discussion of the "ghettoization" of cultural studies: how both sides lose when these are segregated instead of incorporated in the core curriculum.
